SK Ride Express connects the Port Orchard ferry to McCormick areas—on weekdays

Use SK Ride Express from the Port Orchard Foot Ferry: four stops, weekday hours, fares and the Seattle–Bremerton connection to plan around.

Yes—SK Ride Express makes a car-free trip from Seattle to the McCormick Woods and McCormick Village areas possible, but it is a weekday connection, not a weekend sightseeing shuttle. The route via Bremerton involves two ferry crossings before boarding the bus in Port Orchard. If downtown Port Orchard is your destination, you can skip the Express entirely.

The new September 2026 pilot runs every 30 minutes and serves just four stops. It follows a fixed route; you cannot book it through Ride Pingo or ask it to detour to your destination. Kitsap Transit’s route page lists the current timetable.

Schedule and fare details checked October 4, 2026.

Four stops, Monday–Friday only

The stops below are listed in the direction toward the Port Orchard ferry. The bus serves them in reverse order when leaving the dock.

Hibiscus Cir & Yarrow Scheduled stop
McCormick Woods Dr & Old Clifton Flag stop
Murrelet & Old Clifton Flag stop
Port Orchard Ferry Transfer to or from the foot ferry

At both flag stops, Kitsap Transit instructs passengers to flag down the bus from a safe roadside location. Do not assume a booking app will summon the Express. Stop and boarding instructions

The broad “5 a.m.–8 p.m.” operating span needs a little precision:

  • Toward the ferry: departures from Hibiscus Cir & Yarrow run from 5:13 a.m. through 7:43 p.m., arriving at the dock at 5:26 a.m. through 7:56 p.m.
  • From the ferry: departures run from 5:30 a.m. through 8 p.m., reaching Hibiscus Cir & Yarrow 13 minutes later.
  • Both directions run every 30 minutes, Monday–Friday. No Saturday or Sunday Express timetable is listed. Official Express schedule

Getting there from Seattle

Plan the trip via Bremerton as three separate legs:

  1. Seattle → Bremerton. The passenger-only Bremerton Fast Ferry leaves Seattle’s Pier 50 and takes approximately 30 minutes. Its current weekday timetable has a substantial gap between the 8:40 a.m. and 2:25 p.m. Seattle departures—it is not an all-day frequent crossing. Fast Ferry schedule
  2. Bremerton → Port Orchard. Transfer to the Port Orchard Foot Ferry, not the Annapolis ferry. Most weekday crossings take 12 minutes, with departures from Bremerton at :15 and :45 through most of the day. Foot ferry timetable
  3. Port Orchard → McCormick area. Board SK Ride Express at the ferry stop; buses leave at :00 and :30. Bus timetable

Washington State Ferries is another Seattle–Bremerton option, with an approximately 60-minute crossing and daily service. Check its departure times rather than treating it as interchangeable with the Fast Ferry. WSF Seattle–Bremerton schedule

The ferry handoff is close—build in a fallback

The published times align closely: a foot ferry arriving in Port Orchard at 10:27 a.m. is followed by a 10:30 a.m. Express departure. In the reverse direction, an Express arriving at 2:26 p.m. precedes the 2:30 p.m. foot ferry to Bremerton. Those are only three- and four-minute scheduled gaps, not generous transfer buffers. Choose a return that still works if you miss one connection. The last weekday Fast Ferry from Bremerton to Seattle is at 7:05 p.m., earlier than the Express finishes running. Kitsap Transit asks Fast Ferry passengers to arrive at least 10 minutes before departure and be aboard two minutes before departure. Fast Ferry schedule and boarding rules

Also check ferry alerts: the foot ferry page currently warns that the Port Orchard and Annapolis services have no backup vessel until further notice. Foot ferry status

Fare and outing decision

The introductory free-ride offer was advertised through September 30, so do not budget an October trip as free. The route page lists a $2 adult one-way fare; local foot ferries also cost $2. Tap the same ORCA card or contactless payment on the foot ferry and Express to receive the two-hour transfer benefit. Washington State Ferries and Kitsap Fast Ferries are excluded from that benefit. Use the Express when you have a specific McCormick-area destination and have checked the walk from the stop. For a loose ferry outing—or a rainy day when you would rather avoid roadside waits—keep the plan in Port Orchard instead. The pilot expands where you can go without a car; it does not remove the need to plan the return ferries.
