Three Capitol Hill stays for a hotel, a historic inn or a park-focused trip
Compare three Capitol Hill Seattle hotels and inns by location, bathrooms, family fit, parking and transit—with a simple rainy-day plan.

Start with Silver Cloud Hotel Seattle–Broadway if you want conventional hotel services, Seattle Gaslight Inn for a historic-house stay for one or two adults, or Cecil Bacon Manor for a bed-and-breakfast near Volunteer Park. These have different locations—not interchangeable options beside the light-rail station.
Before comparing rates, decide whether your evenings will revolve around Pike/Pine dining or your mornings around the park. If you are still choosing the neighborhood, see our Capitol Hill base guide.
Silver Cloud Hotel Seattle–Broadway: the conventional hotel choice
At 1100 Broadway, on the corner of Broadway and Madison, Silver Cloud is a useful starting point for visitors who want a staffed hotel rather than a guesthouse. See its address and directions. It is near Seattle University, with Jimmy’s on Broadway as its on-site restaurant and bar. Rooms include a microwave and refrigerator—helpful for leftovers or a simple snack between outings. Silver Cloud’s official hotel page confirms those facilities.
The practical advantages are a 24-hour front desk, complimentary guest laundry and covered secure parking. As of October 25, 2026, parking is listed at $40 nightly plus tax. The hotel also lists a minimum registration age of 21 and a pet-free policy. Hotel amenities and policies are worth checking before booking, especially if you are bringing a car or traveling as a younger adult.
Choose it for: hotel services, a Seattle University visit, or a stay where laundry and in-room food storage matter.
Location trade-off: Broadway and Madison is not the light-rail station area. Map the hotel-to-station walk separately rather than treating “Broadway” as one location.
Seattle Gaslight Inn: a historic-house stay for adults
Seattle Gaslight Inn is at 1727 15th Avenue, between East Howell and Olive streets. Its nine rooms accommodate two guests each, with king or queen beds, refrigerators and coffee stations. The house also has a living room and library for time indoors. The inn’s accommodation overview describes the room options and common spaces.
The bathroom arrangement is the key booking detail. The inn offers rooms with detached shared bathrooms, a room with a detached private bathroom, and private suites. Read the exact room description rather than assuming every bathroom is en suite.
This is not a family-with-children option: the inn’s FAQ says it does not accept reservations with children. It also does not allow guest pets, although resident animals live at the property.
The heated outdoor pool is a summer feature, with a published season from Memorial Day to Labor Day—not a winter rain backup. Parking is on the street; the inn rents guest parking permits, but spaces remain first-come, first-served. Those policies are listed as of October 25, 2026 in the same FAQ.
For a late arrival, plan ahead: the inn publishes 3–6 p.m. check-in, with smart locks allowing later arrivals. Contact the inn in advance about your timing, as its reservation information advises.
Choose it for: one or two adults who prefer a small inn and are comfortable checking room-specific bathroom details.
Cecil Bacon Manor: a Volunteer Park-oriented B&B
Cecil Bacon Manor, formerly operated as Bacon Mansion, is at 959 Broadway East in the Harvard-Belmont Landmark District. Its setting makes it the strongest fit here for a trip built around Volunteer Park rather than repeated late-evening outings to Pike/Pine. The manor’s official overview describes its location, four-level main house and separate Carriage House.
Breakfast is included with reservations, and room layouts vary substantially. The Carriage Suite, for example, has a private entrance, private bathroom, kitchenette and capacity for up to four guests. Some other rooms explicitly accommodate children, while the Cabin Room and Skyline Suite are reserved for adults. The Cabin Room has a shared bathroom. Check the individual room descriptions for your party rather than booking by property name alone.
As of October 25, 2026, published check-in is 3–6 p.m., and breakfast is 8:30–9:30 a.m. Arrange a later arrival directly; an early sightseeing departure may mean missing breakfast. See the manor’s policies.
Choose it for: breakfast, historic-house character and a park-focused stay, with the room matched carefully to your group.
Check the journey, then keep one rain plan
The 1 Line connects SeaTac/Airport, downtown’s Westlake station and Capitol Hill. That makes a car-free stay practical, but the final station-to-lodging leg still matters. Check the walking route with luggage, and consult Capitol Hill Station’s live alerts before traveling.
For a manageable neighborhood day, use one of these pairings. Venue hours below are listed as of October 25, 2026:
- Dining-focused stay: make a meal your anchor, then browse Elliott Bay Book Company at 1521 10th Avenue if rain interrupts walking. Its posted hours are 9 a.m.–10 p.m. daily. Our Capitol Hill restaurant picks can help settle the meal.
- Park-focused stay: pair Volunteer Park with the Seattle Asian Art Museum inside the park. The museum opens Wednesday–Sunday, 10 a.m.–5 p.m., and is closed Monday–Tuesday, so it is not an every-day fallback. Check its visit page for holiday exceptions.
Compare the final booking total—not just the nightly rate—and confirm bathroom type, arrival arrangements and cancellation terms before paying.
